Location

1. With the school to your left past the phone box sign posted Ennerdale Water 1½ and Crossdale 1

2. Take Footpath beside road to Braemar Cottages

3. Cross the road and follow Coast To Coast footpath through the trees

4. Turn left at the gate where the path joins the T-junction path to face the lake

5. At the lake turn left across the bridge and walk around north shore of lake to the 2nd gate

6. Go through the gate and head straight on up to Beckfoot (house on the left at junction). You can see The Wild Wool Barn across the field.

7. Turn left and walk up the track.

At this point you have two choices:

8a. Walk two thirds of the way up the track, cross the stile into the field on the right, and follow the marked path across the field. At the far side of the field the small gate brings you directly into the campsite.

OR

8b. Walk all the way to the top of the lane. Turn right and walk along the road 300m to Wild Wool Barn on the right of the road (this avoids having to cross a stile but is longer and uses the road).

1. Drive south 8 miles on the A5086, turn left at the sign for Lamplugh Green and Lamplugh Church.

2. Drive past the church and then turn left at sign for Ennerdale Lake.

3. Drive between 2 caravan parks then up and then down a very steep hill (not recommended in snow or ice) to Croasdale – CA23 3AT (2.5 miles from caravan parks).

4. Turn left at Croasdale (and then the road makes a sharp right). The sign says ROUGHTON – the old spelling.

5. Drive 1 mile east down very narrow roads. When you reach the Wild Wool Barn sign in the field, continue left along the road for 300m. The Wild Wool Barn is on the right.

1. Drive to to Ennerdale Bridge, turn right at the school.

2. Drive for approx. 2 miles (don’t turn off anywhere – the road is very winding) to Croasdale.

3. Drive 1 mile east down very narrow roads. When you reach the Wild Wool Barn sign in the field, continue left along the road for 300m. The Wild Wool Barn is on the right.

1. From Cockermouth drive south 8 miles on the A5086.

2. DO NOT turn left at the sign for Lamplugh Green, drive on to the next junction left – Kirkland and Ennerdale Bridge (just past Lamplugh Village Hall).

3. Drive all the way down to Ennerdale Bridge (do not turn off at Kirkland).

4. Turn left at Ennerdale Bridge School (opposite the Shepherds Arms Hotel).

5. Drive for approx 3 miles (don’t turn off anywhere – the road is very winding).

6. Drive 1 mile east down very narrow roads. When you reach the Wild Wool Barn sign in the field, continue left along the road for 300m. The Wild Wool Barn is on the right.
