The Byre
The Byre (Wild Wool Barn Ennerdale) provides simple cosy accommodation in 5 ground-floor rooms for groups up to 6. The recently converted Lakeland barn with its traditional wood-burning stove, slate and wood floors, low beams, electric heating and shower marries tradition with luxury.
Inside
The bedroom sleeps 6 in two bunk beds and a double bed. The comfortable living and dining area is well furnished with a traditional, wood-burning stove and fireplace, built with traditional slate from the nearby Honister Slate Mine, and has electric heaters for extra, all-year-round warmth. The kitchen has a 2-ring electric cooker, kettle, toaster, oven, fridge and microwave and shopping can be delivered by the major supermarkets. Slate-clad electric shower and toilets complete the traditional feel.
All crockery and utensils, linen, hot water and electric heating are provided. An initial basket of logs is supplied for the log burner, and extra wood can be purchased at £15 per basket, as required. Linen hire is included in the price, but note that towels are not provided.
Outside
To the front and rear of the barn you can enjoy stunning 360° views of Ennerdale Valley and Ennerdale Water, the surrounding mountains, and valley. Seating areas on the cobbled patio and grassed areas are perfect for an evening barbecue or to enjoy a drink as the sun sets over the water. Behind the barn we offer a small exclusive camping area for a limited number of tents. There is space for parking 2 cars (more by arrangement).
You can walk, run, or ride a bike directly from the barn onto the peaceful bridleways and forest tracks around Ennerdale Water. Without using your car you can access the surrounding fells of the Ennerdale Horseshoe, with views into Buttermere, Wasdale, and the Central Fells.

Dogs are welcome! £10 per dog, per night – max. cost per stay per dog is £20.
Beds are made up for your arrival but we ask that all beds are stripped on departure.

"Wild Wool Barn was recommend by friends who stayed where in the summer. We've really enjoyed our stay. The barn is so well equipped and the wood burner made it especially cosy in the cold damp weather. We didn't have much time to explore Ennerdale unfortunately as we spent a day climbing Haystacks and another day with friends at Whinlatter Forest. Ww hope to return in the warmer weather to explore Ennerdale as it looks so beautiful."
