Lake View Camping is a totally unique Lake District camping experience – a camping plot to call your own!
The site is only open for 60 days per year and has space for a limited number of tents (sorry, no camper vans).
The site is an absolute hidden gem and offers a rare opportunity to camp in isolation overlooking the stunning view of Ennerdale Water.
We offer 2 pitches for solo walkers on the Coast to Coast. 4 pitches for 2 or 3 person tents (max. tent size 6m2*) and a single pitch for tents 12m2 to 20m2*. Campers have shared use of toilet and shower with the Spinning Barn and Bothy.
If you are on the Coast to Coast Walk (or Duke of Edinburgh group) and cannot find availability please phone 01946 861270 and leave a message, as we can usually accommodate Coast to Coast walkers on a single night basis.
The site has chairs and tables and an undercover area to store equipment or for cooking… for occasional use when the Lake District weather is unusually inclement!
For evening meals you could head down to Ennerdale Bridge to savour the local cuisine at one at one of the 2 pubs there (2.5 mile lake-shore walk), or you could enjoy an evening barbecue watching the sunset over Ennerdale Water. The perfect location for the start of many great adventures.
Dogs are welcome! No charge.
* Larger tents can be accommodated, but are situated on the field, which requires campers to carry their equipment slightly further from the parking and facilities.
Please phone Susan on 01946 861270 for all camping enquiries.

"Lovely place to stay for a few days - great to get away from it all and totally unplug from WiFi and TV! We had our cosy family time here, and the stunning walks round Buttermere and Ennerdale Water - wonderful, thank you!"

"Beautiful place! We really enjoyed our last minute trip to the Lakes, and are so happy to have found this place. Well thought out fittings and fixtures - underfloor heating and stove especially appreciated! Hope to visit you all again sometime."

"Wild Wool Barn was recommend by friends who stayed where in the summer. We've really enjoyed our stay. The barn is so well equipped and the wood burner made it especially cosy in the cold damp weather. We didn't have much time to explore Ennerdale unfortunately as we spent a day climbing Haystacks and another day with friends at Whinlatter Forest. Ww hope to return in the warmer weather to explore Ennerdale as it looks so beautiful."

"Thank you for letting us stay in this lovely barn. You've done a brilliant job with decorating the place as well. We all loved staying in this barn very much... including Tess the dog!"

"A lovely relaxing time, great weather. Welcoming host and evenings by the fire. Launched our canoe and kayak from Bleach Green car park. Fox and Hounds provided a tasty meal and clear skies allowed for some wonderful star gazing."
